The Seen app ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand how your personal information is collected, used, and shared. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

The Seen app is rated for users ages 4 and up. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide.

For Users Under 13:

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
  • Parents or guardians should create and manage accounts on behalf of children under 13.
  • We encourage parents to supervise their children's use of the Service.
  • If we discover we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will delete that information promptly.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Name, email address, profile picture (optional), and authentication credentials when you sign up via email, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In.
  • Profile Information: Faith level, spiritual goals, current life circumstances, and preferences you share during onboarding to personalize your journey.
  • Spiritual Journey Data: Bible reading progress, journal entries, personal notes, highlights, bookmarks, and prayer requests.
  • AI Conversations: Messages and conversations you have with Abram, our AI spiritual companion, including questions, reflections, and prayer requests shared in chat.
  • Community Content: Posts, comments, messages, prayer requests, and other content you share in groups or community features.
  • Support Communications: Information you provide when contacting customer support.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (such as IDFV), and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: App features used, screens viewed, session duration, interaction patterns, and in-app actions (collected via Firebase Analytics).
  • Approximate Location: General location based on IP address (city/region level). We do not collect precise GPS location.
  • Log Data: Error logs, crash reports, and diagnostic information to help us improve app stability.

3.3 Information from Third-Party Services

  • Sign-In Services: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and profile picture (if available) as authorized by those services.
  • Payment Processors: Subscription status and transaction identifiers from Adapty and Stripe. We do not receive or store full credit card numbers.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

4.1 To Provide and Personalize the Service

  • Create and manage your account
  • Generate personalized 30-day spiritual journeys based on your faith level and goals
  • Power Abram AI to provide relevant, context-aware spiritual guidance
  • Deliver daily Scripture readings, devotionals, and challenges
  • Enable audio narration of Bible content
  • Sync your progress, notes, and highlights across devices

4.2 To Process Payments

  • Process subscription payments through Adapty and Stripe
  • Manage subscription status and premium feature access
  • Handle refund requests and billing inquiries

4.3 To Communicate With You

  • Send push notifications about your spiritual journey (with your consent)
  • Notify you of community activity, prayer request updates, and group messages
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
  • Send important service updates and policy changes

4.4 To Improve the Service

  • Analyze usage patterns to improve features and user experience
  • Debug issues and fix crashes
  • Conduct research and development for new features

4.5 For Safety and Legal Compliance

  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines

No Guarantee: While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You have significant control over your personal information:

10.1 Access Your Data

10.2 Correct Your Data

You can update your account information directly within the app under Settings → Profile.

10.3 Delete Your Account

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:
In-App: Settings → Account → Delete Account

Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where legally required to retain it.

10.4 Data Portability

You may request an export of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON) by emailing us.

10.5 Opt-Out of Communications

  • Push Notifications: Disable in app Settings → Notifications, or in your device's system settings
  • Email: Unsubscribe via the link in any marketing email

10.6 Withdraw Consent

Where we process data based on your consent, you may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your settings or contacting us.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your data during transfers.

14. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. Our Service does not currently respond to DNT signals because there is no industry-standard interpretation. However, we do not track users across third-party websites for advertising purposes.

15. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

We respect Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. We do not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes. The Seen app does not engage in cross-app tracking.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • We will notify you via in-app notification or email for significant changes
  • Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
